Are you looking for another opportunity to work your sight reading skills? Perhaps you're looking for the chance to work on your soloing. Maybe you're just looking for more experience in reading big band charts, preparing yourself for situations much like those in pro big band and dance bands. Or, maybe you just want to have some fun playing jazz. If you answered yes to any of these questions, please consider playing in the Jass Organization Reading Band. Basically, this is a chance to get together with other young local musicians to read and learn big band charts. The group will meet once every other week. Come and read down and rehearse big band charts of all varieties with your friends, fellow musicians, and colleagues. There are also opportunities for musicians to bring in their own compositions or arrangements to be played.
There is no pressure to be in attendance every time we meet, as it's a reading band for the time being, with the possibilities of becoming more in the future. Also, there is no cost or fee to participate in this reading band.
The reading band will take place every other Thursday, starting October 12th. We're also looking at some options which include perhaps playing a performance at the mall in December with members of this reading band. It would be a neat way to promote jazz and big band music while showcasing great talent in the FM area. Please let us know if you're interested in participating in this show.
