The 2006 Jass Festival

August 4-6, 2006

A Message to the Members of the Festival

Please allow me to let you know that I appreciate all that you do to make the Jass Festival a good time and a great showing. The groups sounded absolutely outstanding- possibly two of the best showings any of our Jass ensembles have ever put out, and you should be proud of the work that you did and the product you put out with only a day and a half of rehearsal. That's how the pros do their thing, and you all did what the pros do.

The sound support (Caleb, Eddie, and company) was impressive, and the directors (Chris and Jessy) did wonderful work getting their respective groups together. Special thanks to Annika Berg for contributing time to the festival, also. Her help was incredibly appreciated.

I learned much from this years festival (as I do each and every year) and more ideas are coming to my mind for next year. We will go back to the May Jass for next year, and more than likely, we'll go back outdoors, since that was a crowd draw. These two are for-sure planning points.

Again, thank you so very much for your work at the festival, you have no idea how much I appreciate it. I'm proud of your performance, and you should be proud of it as well. Take care, and have a great rest of the summer.

Christopher Hanson
Executive Director, The Jass Festival

Special Thanks

-Annika Berg for her help as assistant festival director. Without your help and your time, I could've never kept up with the weekend.

-The NDSU Division of Fine Arts for allowing us to use the music building for rehearsals.

-Eddie Schwind and Caleb Mott for allowing us to use their sound equipment to present the final concert.

-John Strand, John Lamb, The High Plains Reader, and The Fargo Forum for the terrific media coverage.

-Jessy Klimpel and Chris Gould for donating their expertise while directing the ensembles.

-The Ronald McDonald Houses of the Red River Valley, which we were proud to support with our donations.

-Nicole Schaefer and the Doublewood Inn for providing us a place to perform our final concert.

-Thank you to everyone who came out to support the show. We were proud to play for you, and thank you for your support.
