The 2006 Jass Festival

August 4-6, 2006

The Mission of Jass

Our main focus as the staff members of the Jass Festival is to put together a weekend of music and jazz which will challenge young musicians and give them a taste of what it's like to perform in a professional band or jazz group. Music is issued at the first rehearsal, and the group must learn quickly to communicate, concentrate, and prepare for a short amount of time before performing a major concert.

The performance serves a pair of purposes. First and most importantly, the festival strives to showcase the young talent in the North Dakota and Minnesota area and expose that our young musicians are capable of doing while also putting on an enjoyable Sunday afternoon show for the public to enjoy. Secondly, the festival puts a great deal of emphasis on music education and teachers who work hard to bring music into their students lives. Without music teachers, none of us would be on stage and none of us would love to make music.

We encourage you to all come out and see what these young musicians have to offer. The groups are directed by young music educators, current college students, and area performers. Come support the arts and enjoy what talent these musicians have to offer. While there is no admission for this show, and the concert is free and open to the public, we ask that you bring a little bit of loose change to donate to the Ronald McDonald Houses of Fargo and Moorhead.

Thank you for your support, and we'll see you at the show!
